Oliva

Oliva

Melanio Oliva started growing tobacco in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba in 1886. In the early 1920's, his son, Hipolito Oliva took over the growing operations for several decades. After the communist take over in Cuba, Hipolito's son Gilberto Oliva, went from growing tobacco to brokering tobacco. In the 1960's with pressure building, Gilberto traveled to different countries seeking that distinctive Cuban flavor. After much searching, he found what he was looking for in the fertile land of Nicaragua. Today his family is the second largest grower of Cuban seed tobacco, and Oliva Cigars are widely known for their rich, smooth flavor.
